Hey Hashnoders, I hope you are off to a great start in 2022. Hashnode is back with Hackathons and this time we are partnering with thirdweb - a web3 platform that is making a lot of news since its launch last month. 🚀

About thirdweb 🏛

thirdweb is a platform that provides developers with all the tools needed to build sophisticated web3 apps. Use their smart contracts, SDKs, and UI components to create your own NFTs, governance tokens, marketplaces, and more.

Crucially, all of these tools are free to use! You only pay a small percentage of any royalties you receive. Try it out.

About The Hackathon 🎒

Anyone who's explored the wild world of web3 can attest to the fact that there's a pretty steep learning curve. That's why we're big fans of thirdweb's offerings—they help flatten that curve with contracts and components that just work.

If you're new to web3, this is the perfect opportunity to start learning by building real-world projects. Best of all, you could win some serious cash for your efforts!

This hackathon is open-ended: you can create membership NFTs, public marketplaces, DAOs, PFP collections, blockchain games, or maybe even something the world hasn't seen yet.

You can use any programming language or framework, so as long as you build with thirdweb’s modules.

How to Participate 📄

Sign up on thirdweb platform
Build an open-source app using one of the thirdweb services. (You can use any language/tool/framework)
Launch your app by publishing an article on your Hashnode blog - no blog yet? Set it up here

Why You Should Participate 🤔

You can turn your web3 ideas into reality by powering your apps with thirdweb.
There are huge opportunities in the web3 space, and the demand for talent is high. Completing this hackathon will give you a leg up in finding opportunities in the space.
Documenting & sharing what you learn is a great way to cement your knowledge.
It's a fun opportunity to earn the recognition you deserve for your skills!

Evaluation Criteria 🔍

Projects will be judged based on the following criteria:

Creativity: The project should be eye-catching and memorable, standing out in the web3 space.
Product Thinking: Usefulness of the project be in a real-world scenario. Completeness of the features implemented.
UI/UX: The overall look, layout, color usage, and positioning in the application.
Code: Quality (clean code, proper naming conventions, use of linter); use of best practices.
Completeness of the article: The blog should cover all aspects of your project. What inspired you to create this project? What problem does the project address? How did you build it?
Comprehensibility: Try to avoid esoteric jargon in your article. Use simple language to convey your thoughts. Assume your reader is familiar with thirdweb but not necessarily the rest of your stack.

Jan 5th, 2022 (00:00 PT): Hackathon begins.
Jan 31st, 2022 (23:59 PT): Deadline for submissions.
Early Feb 2022: Winners will be announced.
